Clutter can definitely cost you cold, hard cash. But beyond the bucks are intangible costs we often don’t take time to consider.
Ask yourself the following questions to determine how much clutter is costing you.
$$$
Are you currently or have you ever rented a storage unit to hold extra furniture, inherited items, collections, or mementos from the past?
Have you ever thrown out expired food because you forgot about it in the back of the pantry or refrigerator?
Do you frequently miss the return cutoff date of items you intend to return, forcing you to keep an unwanted item or donate it?
Have you ever purchased a duplicate tool or kitchen gadget because you couldn’t find the one you own?
Do you sometimes miss out on a tax deduction because you are unable to find the paperwork or electronic record?
Have you ever misplaced a bill, paid it after the due date, and incurred late fees and interest charges?
Beyond $$$
Do you feel overwhelmed or unable to fully relax in your home?
Have your friendships suffered because you are unwilling to invite people to your home due to clutter?
Would you like to pursue your hobbies but cannot find the supplies and instead settle for watching TV?
Do you regularly spend your weekends on garage cleanup or paper shuffling rather than attending local community events and activities?
Does clutter keep you from hosting a family gathering?
Have you been wanting to adopt a companion animal but feel your home is not ready for a new pet?
Would you like to be able to enjoy a vacation without thoughts of the clutter waiting for you at home?
